Papaver somniferum 'Special effects'
A cross between an heirloom Afghan opium poppy and an upright, dark purple-flowered hardy bush poppy. These are F2 seeds and will produce a riot of different colours, shades and patterns. Some flowers with frilled petals. Plants are upright and fairly tall (around 1-1.2 metres) , mostly producing several flowers, but some with only a single flower (and the largest seed pods). Due to the variable nature of the F2 offspring, flowering takes place over a longer period than it would with a stable hybrid.
