Apios americana

Also known as American groundnut, potato bean, hopniss, or cinnamon vine, this is a very easy to grow perennial vine that bears edible beans and edible tubers.

The tubers are very good to eat with similar characteristics to potatoes, although the flavor Is nuttier. They contain roughly three times the protein content of potatoes.

Small tubers will be sent packed as a large letter to keep the postage cost down. They will grow an attractive vine, but will probably not flower or produce much of a harvest until the second year.

Larger tubers will probably flower in the first year and will produce a few tubers to eat in the autumn.

Plants will become established in their first year and flower and produce tubers in the second year.
